Robert Hannum first lived in Alaska during the 1970’s when his father was stationed at the Fort Wainwright Army installation. The snow, mountains, and wildlife left a lasting impression. No matter where the family was moved to after that, Robert dreamed of returning and starting a bed and breakfast.
Every location he lived in and visited throughout his childhood and during his service in the U.S. Navy nurtured Robert’s passion for the outdoors. He has an adventurer’s spirit that gets him outside to enjoy everything from cross-country skiing to snowshoeing and rafting.
The memories and eventually fate finally drew Robert back to Fairbanks in 2006. Over the next several years, he attended the University of Alaska School of Management and earn both a Bachelors of Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration.
In 2017, he took over Pioneer Taxi. From 2017 through 2019 he expanded the taxi business to include chartered transportation and began offering Aurora Chasing tours under the business name Aurora Pioneer Tours. It was through these businesses that one of his contacts informed him of a property that would be suitable for a Bed and Breakfast. Several Months later, Robert opened Aurora Pioneer Manor.
Fairbanks is known around the world as the number one destination for the always illusive and spectacular Aurora Borealis. And this provides Robert with nearly limitless opportunities to dabble in one of his favorite hobbies. Photography has been his passion since high school and has only intensified since returning to Alaska. With many years of experience with photography, the elements of the outdoors and the unique and always surprising Alaska winters and summers he has been able to capture all that Alaska has to offer.
Going the extra mile is something he has always strived for. Robert Hannum would like to invite you to stay and experience the wonders that Fairbanks, Alaska has to offer.
A spectacular and unforgettable experience awaits.
